On Credit Monitoring Services

The economy is on the verge of recuperation. Very recently, the country experienced a major financial crisis and is just starting to recover. Since the Holidays are just around the corner, you can expect Americans to start spending again. Obviously, more spending would often mean more credit transactions and an increase in credit transactions would often require increased demand for credit monitoring services (although very few Americans actually subscribe to the service). The question now lies: why should every American bother with their credit scores?

It’s a capitalist economy all over the world and the values that came with the economic situation allowed people to use and abuse their credit cards and wallow in debt. With unpaid debts come low credit ratings or scores and potential problems in the aspects of financial security. Despite the sophistication of technology, errors still occur and there are instances when even the computers get the scores mixed up and in turn, those who have good credit standing ends up having low rates. These things simply imply that there each consumer, or at least those who are old enough to have credit scores, should regularly monitor their credit scores. It is also imperative that every transaction in your credit score be carefully scrutinized so that when you file for a loan in the future, you will be able to do so with ease and less problems.

No matter how important credit scores are, there are still people who are clueless about how it works, how do you interpret the data written on the report, as well as how to request for these documents. There are also very few people who know that each credit agencies are mandated by law to provide one free credit report to every consumer every year when requested. While there were reports and customer feedbacks that they were being charged for a certain amount for these documents, the law clearly states that the document should be free.

If you don’t want to be bothered with all these, then perhaps, all you need is a subscription to a credit monitoring facility. These agencies will request the credit reports for you, monitor them and inform you of any changes in your account (so that if you did not authorize the change, then you can immediately take action). Credit monitoring services are perfect for preventing identity theft and if you have plans of applying for loans or using your credit in the future, then you can be sure that you will not be declined because you are keeping a close watch on your credit scores.

While there are a handful of critics who are quick to point out that these services can be done by the subscribers themselves, more people are still too busy to be taking the time off to review, request and file for complaints (if any) of their credit scores. These same people (critics) also mention that credit monitoring are just a waste of time, money and resources but recent surveys show otherwise. Those who want to protect their credit scores by subscribing to credit monitoring services are those who achieved better credit scores than those who did not.
