Cinnamon is one of the most commonly used ingredients in baked and cooked foods. Several studies have proved that cinnamon is not delightful, but healthy. Nonetheless, make certain that you are purchasing the original cinnamon instead of cassia that is usually packaged as cinnamon in most retail stores. But the major point is about living a healthy life, we should never forget this.

Listed below are some of the top ten health reasons for taking cinnamon, thereby prompting you to include it in your meals on a daily basis:

1. Decreased Cholesterol Levels

Several researches have revealed that consuming half a teaspoon of cinnamon on a daily basis can help in lowering LDL cholesterol in the body.

2. Helps in Regulating Blood Sugar

A number of studies have suggested that including cinnamon in your meals can help in regulating blood sugar, thereby making it suitable for people suffering from Type II Diabetes.

3. Helps in Managing Yeast Infection

There are also studies which imply that including cinnamon in your meals can help in minimizing yeast infection.

4. Prevention of Cancer

According to research that was printed by the US Department of Agriculture, it was revealed that taking cinnamon can help in minimizing the chances of developing cancerous cells responsible for leukemia.

5. An Anti-Clotting Agent

Unknown to most people is that cinnamon contains an anti-clotting agent that helps in preventing excessive bleeding in case of accidents. This in turn makes it suitable for people suffering from diabetes.

6. Provides Respite for Arthritis Pain

In a research that was carried out by Copenhagen University, it was discovered that patients suffering from arthritis who take ½ a teaspoon of cinnamon powder blended with 1 tablespoon of honey every morning prior to any meal reported a substantial decrease in arthritis aches in less than 7 days and as such could manage to walk devoid of pain in less than a month.

7. Antibacterial Agent

Including cinnamon as one of the ingredients when preparing meals aids in preventing bacterial growth, thereby preventing food spoilage. Generally, cinnamons are widely regarded as organic food preservatives.

8. Brain Wellness

There is a study which implies that sniffing cinnamon powder can aid in boosting your cerebral function as well as memory.

9. Aids in Battling E. Coli Bacteria

A number of scientists at Kansas State University discovered that cinnamon can help in fighting the E. Coli Bacteria that is commonly found in unpasteurized juices.

10. Rich in Nutrients

Cinnamon is also rich in minerals and nutrients such as calcium, manganese, iron and fiber.

What Are Some of the Side Effects of Taking Cinnamon?

Whereas there is no doubt that cinnamon is a nutritional food and aids in preventing several diseases in addition to strengthening your immune system, it does cause a number of side effects. For instance:

1. Irritation of the Skin

Cinnamon contains an essential oil that should not be applied on the skin. While small quantities of the oil can be thinned and used as agents for fighting skin infections, cinnamon oil on its own can trigger serious burning plus irritation when applied directly on the skin. Though quite rare, sores can at times manifest due to allergic reactions.

2. Irritation of the Stomach

Do not eat cinnamon unless you have consulted a physician if you were previously treated for irritable bowel syndrome and acute ulcers. Consuming large quantities of cinnamon can trigger irritation of the stomach lining.

3. Increased Cardiac Activity

In a recent study that was published on the web by the US Department of Agriculture, it was discovered that consuming large quantities of cinnamon can trigger increased cardiac activity, which can be fatal if you are suffering from a heart disease.

4. Contractions of the Uterine

A number of traditional healers tend to prescribe cinnamon as a means of inducing or normalizing contractions. Consequently, you need to desist from taking cinnamon if you are pregnant.

5. Excessive Thinning of the Blood

Do not take cinnamon if you are currently on blood thinning medications since cinnamon can trigger excessive thinning of the blood. Then again, you need to desist from taking huge quantities of cinnamon if you are due for surgery or during normal menstrual flow.

6. Kidney and Liver Diseases

There are a number of unconfirmed studies which imply that people diagnosed with either kidney or liver diseases should not take cinnamon because it ca

Most habits that our kids develop, good or bad, have their roots in the actions of their parents. There is plenty of research on the effect of parents’ spending habits on their kids’ future money ways. One of the biggest downfalls: Failing to bargain shop.

Many kids form a negative view of bargain shopping thanks to interaction with their peers. They hear few of their classmates talking about hitting the clearance section or dropping in on closeout stores. That forms an image in their minds that bargain shopping is what poor people or extreme tightwads spend their days doing, and no kid wants to be part of that.

If you’ve waited until they’re teenagers, humiliated by your forays into the orange tag areas, you have an uphill battle. Kids need to learn from you at an early age that it’s a good thing to save money.

But you have to do more than tell it or even live it. It isn’t enough to walk out of the store with a smile on your face and say that you got some good bargains. You also have to involve the kids so that they see, with real numbers, what the impact is of your frugal ways.

Retailers are actually quite helpful in this way. Because your favorite store wants you to remember what a cash-saving good time you’ve had with them today, your receipt will usually include, item by item, the savings you’ve realized. At the end you’ll see a very exciting number that represents your total savings on the transaction. Show that to your kids. Make it real. Give them some examples of what Mom or Dad could get with the money saved.

If you want to drive home the point with very dramatic numbers, plan ahead for 2013 Black Friday sales and show your kids a “before and after” view of the prices of featured items. When they see enough money freed up to pay for a day at the theme park or a meal at their favorite restaurant, they will start to internalize the importance of saving money.

And that will completely change how they view other things you do. When they see you gathering Home Decorators Collection coupons, they’ll understand that you’re essentially gathering money. Again, emphasize the point that every dollar you’ve saved while shopping is now available for something else.

By then you’re ready to teach them more advanced strategies. For example, show them that you truly can save money if you get a discount for using a store credit card, but pencil out the numbers to illustrate that the gains are immediately lost to the interest monster if they don’t pay the balance in full.

With good education, they’ll understand that it’s more embarrassing to waste money than to save it. Make sure they understand that it’s not about crawling through the mud to grab a nickel, but about using your head and not paying ten dollars for something you can get for five. That will program them as lifelong budget shoppers.

It is truly said, that a nutritious and healthy diet is a must for a healthy and prosperous life. A healthy diet helps in improving and maintaining health. The experts have realized its importance and have developed great tools to assist you in supervising your diet in a much healthier way. Out of which, one of the best device ever launched to provide healthy and safe dieting tips is your “iPads”. Allow your iPads to help in you getting healthier as it is a high tech gadget which is featured with a broad range of specifications and healthy apps that can easily maintain a track of your day to day diet and can easily keep the record of the regular intakes of calories. Such tracking might be very complicated but to be done with the help of an iPad, it’s nothing. The users can easily access it anywhere and at any time as one of the most important devices to manage your diet in the best possible manner.

The iPad offers a great collection of healthy diet apps that can provide you with nutritious recipes that only reduces the unwanted fat and helps in building the muscles. The list of a few most popular and helpful healthy dieting apps includes:

MyNetDiary HD- Helps in tracking calorie intakes

This costly but unbelievably efficient application permits the users to keep a track of every small aspect related to the human health. It is much more than a usual food diary, it also serves as a diet conniver, recipe provider, and complete nourishment database. You can easily track your BP, regular exercises, measurements of the body, necessary sleeping hours, minimum intake of water, vitamins or other drug requirement and more. You can also avail the community health services from the web. These communities offer suggestions from a registered and certified dietician. Your health diary can get synced between your personal computers and iPads, and your iPhone too.

CalorieKing- Helps with search of healthy and the right food for the users.

This application is again a great initiative of rendering the iPad users with the best health tip for planning an efficient diet. Technically, it doesn’t keep a record of the user’s calories, but in case you need a fast and instant solution to check your calories then this app is the perfect option for you. The CalorieKing serves as the main database for all the healthy and nutritious food stuffs. The app is featured with US’s most dependable results and offers more than 65,000 foods. It also comprises of around 200 snack food chains and eating places. Additionally, it lists exact information like the quantity of protein, alcohol, fiber, sodium, saturated fat, cholesterol and Tran’s fat, included in each.

These are two of well-known iPad apps that help and guide its users to prepare an efficient, healthy, safe and nutritious diet plan. Your iPad not only just prepares your healthy diet plan but also helps you in following it. Hence, experience a healthy lifestyle with the help of your iPad!

Traveling is exiting whether you travel for business or leisure and the sole idea of going away from the routine place we live makes the mind start the journey in anticipation. When your mind is elsewhere and you are getting ready to travel, chances to make money mistakes increase dramatically. In fact, many times you can fall into common money mistakes that people usually make before traveling and that should be taken into account to avoid coming back home framed by debt and financial unbalances.

Making a Travel Budget and Sticking to It

You might be saving money for a long time to give your family a well-deserved plan or you could be soon traveling because your job requires that a representative visit a branch in another state and even in another country. The reason why you are traveling is irrelevant when it comes to planning that the importance of this fact has to focus on writing down a budget or list of traveling expenses and stick to it during your traveling time. It does not matter if you pay for the travel or if it is your boss who is going to pay it.

Avoid Borrowing Money When Traveling

There are two possible scenarios connected to your travel planner that might suggest you borrow money: one wants to take extra cash to cover unexpected expenses and the other is while traveling you have to face unexpected expenses for real. In both cases, the common mistake is taking out payday loans, which certainly will provide you with the money you need, but that may turn into a nightmare when your trip is over and you find yourself trapped in debt due to the high interest rates that payday loan lenders charge.

Repay Your Debts Should Come First

If you have saved money for traveling purposes, chances are that it is enough to repay your debt partially or in full. Remember that interest rates increase your debt while it is not paid back and that traveling many times exhausts all the available money after the trip. When you are dragging an outstanding debt, your chances to borrow more money are null, but if you repay your debt first, you can always start saving money again to travel in the near future and leave open the possibility to borrow money if you really need to do when coming back home.

Deciding on Travel Insurance

When traveling a travel insurance policy gives you the peace of mind to get the insurance company paying for issues happening during your trip. However, common mistakes of taking out travel insurance include buying coverage that you do not need or traveling without this type of coverage, so devote some time to analyze if you really need this protection and how much you should buy.

Free-Traveling Minded Is Often Wrong

Among the common mistakes made before traveling, the biggest is making a sudden decision to travel without being sure if this can be done without affecting your monthly budget and sometimes even without knowing how much to spend. The idea that you want to travel and you will “manage” somehow to pay for a trip is the best way to get your finances upside down shortly after.

Chances are good you have at least one lady in your life who is simply impossible to buy for. Whether that lady is your wife, your mother, your daughter or just a close friend, finding the perfect gift for birthdays, the holidays and other special occasions can seem like a daunting – or even impossible – task.

Luckily there is a way to solve those gift giving dilemmas and create a gift that will provide wonderful memories for years to come. Combining a once in a lifetime experience with some equally high quality gifts is the perfect way to keep the lady in your life pampered – and you out of the doghouse.

A day at the local spa is the perfect gift for that special lady in your life. Even women who do not normally go for spa getaways often find themselves hooked after the first time. There is just something about being pampered and having our every whim catered to that makes us women crazy – and crazy happy. If you have never thought about giving a spa vacation, this holiday season may be the perfect time to give it a try.

You can choose from a local spa facility for a great day trip, or go all out with a spa getaway to a popular resort. It all depends on your budget and the amount of time the lady in your life has to spare. No matter which option you choose, she will be thrilled that you cared enough to send her for a day of beauty and nonstop pampering.

That pampering does not have to stop when your special lady returns home from her spa getaway. Indeed, one of the best ideas is to combine an experience gift like a spa getaway with some practical items she can use every day. When you are done shopping for the perfect spa or resort, spend some time online and search for the perfect health and beauty items.

Creating a spa gift basket is the perfect way to extend the indulgence and pampering of the spa getaway for weeks and even months. When you create a custom gift basket, you can give that special lady the chance to pamper herself all over again. Filling that gift basket with special lotions, high quality soaps and name brand shampoos, conditioners and hot oil treatments is the perfect way to let her know how much you care.

You can even use that gift basket to present your other gift – the spa getaway vacation. Just place a certificate or information on the spa getaway at the bottom of the basket, then fill it the rest of the way with the great items you have chosen. As your special lady digs through her treasures, she will find your special gift and love it that much more. Getting a gift basket is always a treat, especially if that gift basket was put together with such loving care by a spouse, parent, child or special friend.

The current laptop we are using is from one of the leading brands out there. I purchased it June of last year and I am so disappointed that even with careful use and charging, the battery is now needing a replacement. I looked online and after market batteries play in the range of 80-100 USD while original manufacturer’s are even much more! I wonder if it’s time to purchase a new laptop from a different brand. We had been looking at getting an Apple Mac Book Pro. It’s pricier than dell but friends have told me that Apple Laptop Batteries last longer and their system in unpenetratable by viruses. So maybe time to save up.

I started to become a godmother 18 years ago to a girl who was our neighbor’s daughter. I haven’t seen her since we moved to a different town and eventually to a different country. But I was fortunate enough to know a lot of very good friends who to entrust me to be their partners in nurturing the moral and spiritual well being of their children. Some I haven’t kept in touch with for a while and others I have kept close and monitored their growing up.

I also love indulging the kids with little girl dresses especially during their birthdays and Christmas. This is a tradition I have kept since I was a kid. I always received dresses from my aunts, mom, grandmother and godmothers. To me those dresses became so special and I remember most of them.

I want my god daughters to remember me that way, the ninang who would always give a dress on special occasions. The one who would spend time with them and love them so much. I also love sending them their favorite dolls of the moment.

This guest post from Doris Dillon

This summer, we are hiring a full-time nanny to take care of the kids while they are off school. There are many different camps available in our area, but I prefer for the kids to get to stay and play at home, or go to the pool, and just have unstructured time in the summer. The girl we got to watch the kids is fabulous. She is going to be a teacher in the fall, but has nothing to do this summer, and was looking to make some money. It was a win-win for both of us. I am writing up a basic schedule for them during the day. So far, I have: eat breakfast (she will get to our house at 8), get dressed, brush teeth, go to the library or park, eat lunch, have a nap, wake up and watch a show on our Satellite TV Michigan, have a snack, read books, play outside. I should be home every day by 4:30, so I think this sounds like a really fun schedule.

Thanks to Derrick Jenkins for contributing this article.

Clarus Marketing Group And FreeShipping.com – Better Than The Rest

I could talk for a while about why I think Clarus Marketing Group and FreeShipping.com have one of the best deals going in the wide world of online bargain hunting. I could tell you about Clarus Marketing’s more than 10 years of experience in the industry, how they’ve built working relationships with thousands of online merchants, and the rebates for free shipping they offer to their members any time they shop online at one of those vendors. But today I’d like to talk about one particular facet that I believe solidifies the glowing reputation of Clarus Marketing Group – complaints resolution.

Just to be completely clear, FreeShipping.com is the daughter company of Clarus Marketing, the flagship site through which they offer membership discount services to online consumers. They’ve created a package of benefits – like free shipping and free return shipping – that is available only through an exclusive FreeShipping.com membership. They are able to offer shoppers these benefits because of the years of experience they have in ecommerce solutions, with so many vendors in a range of industries. Vendors trust Clarus, and thereby trust their members implicitly through affiliation.

Now, on to what I wanted to talk about. All of what I’ve said already is great, but it doesn’t mean as much when it comes from a company that is lacking in customer service. Clarus Marketing is well aware of this and they implement strategies to proactively care for their members at FreeShipping.com. Review the site for a few minutes and you’ll see what I mean. It’s full of all of the information you need to make an informed decision, plus a 30-day no-cost review. On top of that, they have a 24-hour customer service line, where they happily take feedback from their members and integrate it every day to make a discount service that only gets better with time.

This is when our minds go at rest and replenishes those brain cells. Same goes for our body, cells are regenerated while we are asleep. This is why a good night sleep is important. That can be achieved with a good quality mattress and beddings/sheet set.
What makes a great bed? For me a comfortable and supportive mattress is a major key to a good night’s sleep. Just imagine sleeping in a too hard or too soft and sagging bed. You will end up tossing and turning all night and waking up more tired that when you went to bed. Also, good beddings, such as pillows, bed linen uk and sheets also make a big difference. I totally stay out of percale or polyester blend sheets as they fray into little fabric balls and gets itchy after a while. A good 100% cotton sheet with 300 or above thread count is heaven. You don’t need a lot of sheet sets. Two to rotate in the beginning is fine. Make sure you change your sheets every week so dust and dust mites don’t gather. If you are looking for good quality sheets and bed linens, try The White Company.

I recently made a collage of my bag collection to date. Here’s a list of what’s photographed here.

Top Row Left to Right

1. Chloe Paddington in Blue Jeans Moyen. I love this one, Victoria Beckham got photographed with this bag many times.

2. Balenciaga 2011 F/W Coquelicot RGGH Part Time – my friend helped me get this from Cannes.

3. Chanel Classic Flap in Lambskin Leather – this was my secret purchase. I’ve only worn it once though.

Middle Row Left to Right

1. Balenciaga 2011 F/W Anthracite RGGH Velo – this is my husband’s favorite out of my three Bal bags. It’s very convenient to use with it’s messenger strap.

2. Louis Vuitton Mini Lin Speedy 30 – very iconic bag, and in a limited linen material. This item is sold out.

Lower Row – Left to Right

1. Louis Vuitton Epi Petit Noe Yellow – this is a vintage classic. I initially sold my regular noe to purchase this petit version. Holds so much stuff and so easy to carry.

2. Yves Saint Laurent YSL Oversized Muse in Ivory – the leather on this bag is so supple. I only used it once so far.

3. Gucci beige/ebony GG plus with dark brown leather trim - this is the nearest and dearest to heart. It’s my first designer bag purchased in 2009.

Thanks to Olga Quinn

I think my old man has gone and done it again! He’s always trying to fix things around here, like he is some kind of handman, which he is not! I think he wishes he was one, but honestly, that man does not have an ounce of handy man in him. Whatever he touches gets screwed up one way or another, and it has only gotten worse since he retired. His latest project was to move the television from one side of the room to the other because he said he didn’t like the glare. I suggested we move the couch, but it was too late. He had already gotten the crazy idea in his mind, and once that man gets an idea, there is no reasoning with him. The problem is, the cable cords are in the wall where the tv was, and not on the other side. I’m not sure what he did, but the wires are all twisted and messed up, and now the tv won’t come on. I’m going to have to get on Direc4u.com to see about getting someone out here to fix it. A real handyman!

Online trading has reached a new level of popularity. Seasoned investors, novice stock traders, and even people who never showed an ounce of interest in the stock market before have expressed interest in online trading.

Despite all the excitement surrounding online trading, the truth is it might not be for everyone. If you are considering entering the exciting world of online trading, here are some things you should ask yourself before handing over your hard earned money.

Image from Flickr

Are You Comfortable Making Major Financial Decisions for Yourself?

Many online trading companies offer the platform you need to trade stocks, bonds, and foreign currency. This platform only provides the tools you need to trade, not the knowledge of what is or is not a good investment or deal.

If you decide to engage in online trading, you will have to make the important decisions regarding your financial future. There may be brokers or agents who can provide you with guidance on what to trade or exchange, and there are tools which you can use to learn more about online trading. However, all the final decisions that need to be made will be 100% your own.

Can You Invest Time and Energy to Train Yourself in Online Trading?

People who are the most successful at online trading are the ones who invest their time and energy in learning the ins and outs of the industry. Many people enter the world of online trading believing that all they need to do is set up an account, and they will make money. However, it is so much more than that.

To truly be successful at online trading, you must invest time in learning the following things:

Setting up and making a profitable trade

Engaging in trades using the online platform

Managing an online account and understanding the applications and information provided

Are You Able to Think Ahead and Create Plans for Your Investments?

Successful online trading requires you to think ahead and plan for the future. Traders and investors must think logically and have a plan in place for each transaction they engage in. For example, people who engage in forex trading online with ufxmarkets.com often have a plan of action such as trading a certain currency for another once it reaches a certain amount.

If you decide to start online trading, you will be responsible for making these future financial plans for your investments. You will be required to use your knowledge of the industry to create a plan of action for each transaction you make.

Online trading can be incredibly successful. However, it isn’t the fitting option for everyone. Asking yourself these questions can help you understand if online trading might be the right choice for you.

Online shopping was something I veered away from, when I was back in my home country. I thought it was not a clever and practical idea to purchase stuff which I only see online. Also, I was too scared then to give out my credit card information in the net. Not only that, online shopping was not a popular choice back then. Until I came here and I was at the mercy of DH’s precious time to accompany me to wherever I want to go. I do not drive and he does. Two years ago, I was a stay-at-home mom who enjoyed her leisure time looking at beautiful things online and eventually wanting to buy them. Considering our location, we can only go around with a car and the means of public commute is not really something I want to consider, read: not conducive for a mom who has a toddler in tow. So there goes the start of my online shopping love. Then, I was surprised to find out that most shops actually marked down their prices online than in their physical stores. So I got hooked into shopping online and shopping, in general.

After almost 2 years of loving online shopping, I have learned that it is more practical to shop online than in physical stores. First, there are a lot of sites that consolidates online coupons, deals and freebies such as FrugalDad which I got my coupon for keurig. Second, you have enough time to think and decide whether it is necessary for you to purchase the particular item. I do sleep on my shopping cart at times and decide the next day whether it is still necessary for me to check it out. Definitely, impulsive shopping sprees are lessened. Third, you not only save time but also gas money. If you think that shipping can be costly, I always make sure to avail of free shipping or wait until the online shop offers this feature. So if you are still in a dilemma whether shopping online are only for the internet-savvy, think twice because most online shops make their sites more user-friendly and more convenient for shoppers to check out their products. As for me, I might as well try to lessen my time online checking out my favorite shops as I made a New Year’s resolution to shop sensibly this year. But it is only January and I might just have spoken too soon.

A lot of sports fans aficionados tuned in last night to watch the Superbowl XLVI championship game between the New England Patriots and the New York Giants. It was a nail biting game that could have gone either way up to the very last minute. I bet many of the 111 million superbowl viewers most especially those who bet on sports are up on their feet the entire game. I myself was pacing back and forth hoping that my team, the Patriots will win. Did I tell you that we were at the mall and driving around the highway at 3:00pm on game day and the streets were empty. Many are already tuned in and partying amongst themselves. My coworkers invited me join in their betting pool, but being such a Square, I knew I wouldn’t win anyway so I passed. The score ended up being 21-17 in favor of New York, which is a shame. Better luck next time Pats!

It can be a little tough trying to decide on something when you have so many options. I think that the best example of that lately was when my family and I were in New York a few weeks ago. There are just so many things to do there that it’s hard to make priorities about which things you’d like to go to. It also doesn’t hurt that there are so many Broadway plays to choose from.

Before our trip, I did my research to see what was playing on Broadway and what would likely be discounted. When I was looking around for that, I ran across the site http://hearingaids.miracle-ear.com. I looked through it some and after that I decided to go in for a hearing test and get fitted with hearing aids.

I kind of had my heart set on the Sister Act Broadway play and that’s the one that we could all agree on because we’d all seen the movie. It was so much fun and I think that we chose a good play to go and see.
